Get ready for an unforgettable adventure with Saltee Sea Safaris. Departing from the picturesque fishing village of Kilmore Quay, our tour takes you on a scenic journey aboard a powerful 9-metre RIB “James Joyce” gliding across the waves toward one of Ireland’s true natural gems — the Saltee Islands.
As we head out from Kilmore Quay, the Saltee Islands quickly come into view — just a short trip across the water, yet it feels like entering another world. The sea stretches out around you, the breeze is fresh and salty, and before long, the rugged outline of the islands rises from the ocean. It’s a scenic ride that brings you right into the heart of nature in no time.
The Saltees are steeped in history and legend, once a smugglers’ hideaway and home to shipwrecks and stories from centuries past. Today, they’re one of the most important bird sanctuaries in Ireland. Keep your eyes peeled for puffins, gannets, razorbills, guillemots, and maybe even a seal or dolphin popping up to say hello.
With dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and the sound of seabirds echoing all around, the Saltee experience is nothing short of breathtaking. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, photographer, or just looking for a unique way to explore the Wexford coast, this tour will leave you speechless — and smiling.
From the moment you step aboard our 9-metre RIB at Kilmore Quay, you’re in for a special experience. Here’s what your trip with Saltee Sea Safaris will look like:
